Officer and Beaconsfield · Cardinia Shire

NDIS support in Officer and Beaconsfield, growing with the corridor.

Officer and Beaconsfield are the new streets between Berwick and Pakenham, where estates are still being built along the highway and the rail line. Our Cranbourne head office is about 20 minutes away and our Pakenham home is the next suburb over, so our workers already drive through.

Support that is growing with Officer and Beaconsfield

Ten years ago much of Officer was paddocks. Now it is one of the fastest-filling parts of Cardinia Shire, with new estates either side of the highway, the shire's council offices in town and a station on the Pakenham line. Beaconsfield next door is older and leafier, with its own station, plaza and neighbourhood centre. The people we support here are often young families who moved for the space.

New suburbs are thin on services, and that is where a registered provider with workers already in the area helps. We deliver personal care, community participation, early childhood intervention and support coordination across Officer, Officer South and Beaconsfield, and our coordinators know which Berwick and Pakenham therapists have room for new referrals.

We are honest about distances too. There is no hospital in Officer; Casey Hospital in Berwick is the nearest, and most specialist clinics are in Berwick, Pakenham or Dandenong. Part of our job is making those trips workable and telling you when a service closer to home does not yet exist.

Around Officer and Beaconsfield

The places that shape a week of support here

Officer and Beaconsfield lean on the towns either side of them. These are the landmarks we use most.

  • Officer Station An unstaffed, step-free stop on the Pakenham line. The Station Street level crossing beside it closed in May 2024, with the Siding Avenue underpass now carrying traffic across the line.
  • Beaconsfield Station Also on the Pakenham line, on Kenilworth Avenue, with a car park and a bus connection. The Station Street crossing nearby is being replaced with a road bridge.
  • Arena Shopping Centre, Cardinia Road, Officer The local shops for the new estates, and the usual starting point for shopping support in Officer.
  • Cardinia Shire Council offices, Officer The shire moved its civic centre from Pakenham to Officer in 2014; council services and community programs run from here.
  • Beaconsfield Neighbourhood Centre, 8 O'Neil Road A not-for-profit centre running term-based courses, playgroups and social groups: community participation that is not about shopping.
  • Casey Hospital, Berwick The nearest emergency department and mental health unit, on Kangan Drive a short drive west. We work with its discharge planners.
  • Cardinia Life, Pakenham The shire's indoor pool, gym and sports courts, a few minutes east along the highway. Swimming with a worker is funded as community participation.

Homes nearby, with honest vacancy status

Our nearest Supported Independent Living home is in Pakenham, one suburb east, currently occupied with a waitlist. We also run a SIL home in Traralgon with a room available and a Robust SDA home in Morayfield, Queensland. We do not have a home in Officer or Beaconsfield and will not pretend otherwise. What we can do is explain SIL and SDA funding, hold a place on the Pakenham waitlist, and help you visit and compare homes run by other providers across Cardinia and Casey. Current status is on the accommodation page.

Questions from Officer and Beaconsfield

Straight answers.

If yours is not here, call and ask. It is what we are for.

Which suburbs around Officer and Beaconsfield do you cover?

Officer, Officer South, Beaconsfield and Upper Beaconsfield, plus Berwick, Guys Hill, Pakenham, Nar Nar Goon and the estates along Cardinia Road. We roster regularly into Clyde North, Narre Warren and Cranbourne, and across Cardinia Shire more broadly. Up the hill towards Emerald or out towards Koo Wee Rup, ask; we often have a worker heading that way already.

Can I get a support worker who speaks my language?

Often, yes. Our team supports people in 17 languages and Auslan, and the new estates in Officer are home to families from everywhere, so language and cultural fit is one of the first things we ask about. If we do not have the right worker, we tell you and arrange an interpreter rather than guessing. Auslan users can reach us through the National Relay Service.

Do you offer support coordination in Officer and Beaconsfield?

Yes. Our coordinators cover Level 2 and Level 3 (specialist) support coordination across Cardinia Shire and meet you at home. In a new suburb their job is partly to find the Berwick, Pakenham or Dandenong service that fills a local gap. Read how it works on our support coordination page.

How quickly can support start?

For in-home and community support, usually within one to two weeks of the first conversation, depending on how specific the match is. Discharge from Casey Hospital and urgent situations are faster: supports have started within days when a plan and a service agreement are ready. Early childhood intervention and behaviour support begin with an assessment, which we book straight away.

Do you have a SIL home in Officer or Beaconsfield?

No, and we would rather say so than imply one. Our nearest home is in Pakenham, currently occupied with a waitlist you can join. Our Traralgon home has a room available and our Morayfield home in Queensland is Robust SDA with availability. The accommodation page shows current status, and our coordinators know the homes other providers run around Officer, Berwick and Pakenham.

Do you support young children in the new estates?

Yes. Early childhood intervention is one of the supports we deliver most in Officer. We work at home and at kinder or childcare on routines, play, communication and the move to school. If a child needs a specialist we do not have, we say so and help you find one with capacity.

We have just moved here and our plan was written for another area. Does that matter?

Not for the funding, which follows you anywhere in Australia. What changes is the services around you: a plan written for an inner suburb may assume providers that do not exist in Officer yet. Our coordinators review the plan against what is actually available here and help you change providers without a gap in support.

What if I am not happy with a worker?

Tell us, and we change the match. You do not have to explain in detail or wait for a review. Consistency matters, but only when it is the right person, so a worker who is not a fit is replaced and the feedback goes into how we match next time. The same applies to coordinators and clinicians.
