NDIS support and a SIL home in Traralgon, for the Latrobe Valley.

Traralgon is the largest town in the Latrobe Valley, and it is where we run a Supported Independent Living home with a room available now. Our head office is in Cranbourne, about 90 minutes away, but the home has its own 24/7 team and our workers cover Morwell, Moe, Warragul, Drouin and towards Sale.

A Newdawn home in Traralgon, and support across the Valley

The Latrobe Valley is not a suburb of Melbourne and does not want to be treated like one. Traralgon, Morwell and Moe share a hospital, a TAFE and a train line, but they are separate towns with their own GPs and footy clubs. The people we support here want workers who live locally, not someone driving down from Dandenong for one shift, and that is how we have set up.

Our Supported Independent Living home in Traralgon is a five bedroom shared house on a quiet street, with 24/7 on-site support, and a room is available now. Around it we deliver personal care, community participation, support coordination, behaviour support and community nursing to people in their own homes across Latrobe City and Baw Baw Shire. We are also hiring a female support worker for Warragul and Drouin, because that is where demand is growing.

Regional honesty matters more than metropolitan polish. Some specialist services, particularly for complex mental health or young children, still mean a trip to Melbourne, and we say so. We coordinate those trips, keep day-to-day support steady, and have staff and a home in the Valley.

Questions from Traralgon and Gippsland

Straight answers.

If yours is not here, call and ask. It is what we are for.

Which towns around Traralgon do you cover?

Traralgon, Traralgon East, Glengarry, Morwell, Churchill, Moe, Newborough, Yallourn North and Trafalgar across Latrobe City, plus Yarragon, Warragul, Drouin and Longwarry in Baw Baw Shire. East towards Rosedale and Sale we support people by arrangement. If your town is not here, ask; the answer is often yes with a little notice.

Is there really a room available in the Traralgon home?

Yes, at the time of writing. Five bedrooms, two bathrooms, support on site around the clock, and one room open for a new housemate. Vacancy status changes, so the accommodation page is updated when it does. Viewings are by appointment: call first, and we will talk honestly about whether the household is a good fit.

Can I get a support worker who speaks my language in Gippsland?

Our team supports people in 17 languages and Auslan, but the Valley roster is smaller than Melbourne's, so a specific language may not be available locally straight away. We tell you that plainly, arrange an interpreter for appointments in the meantime, and keep language in the match as we recruit. Auslan users can reach us through the National Relay Service.

Do you offer support coordination in the Latrobe Valley?

Yes. Our coordinators cover Level 2 and Level 3 (specialist) support coordination across Latrobe City and Baw Baw Shire, and meet you at home, at the hospital or in town. They know Latrobe Regional Health, the local therapists and the Gippsland Local Area Coordination offices. Read more on our support coordination page.

How quickly can support start in Traralgon or Warragul?

For in-home and community support in Traralgon, Morwell and Moe, usually within one to two weeks of the first conversation. Hospital discharge from Latrobe Regional Health can be faster when a plan and a service agreement are ready. In Warragul and Drouin it depends on worker availability, which is why we are hiring there.

Do you cover Warragul and Drouin?

Yes, and we are growing there. Warragul and Drouin sit between our Traralgon home and our Cranbourne office, both on the Gippsland line, with West Gippsland Hospital in Warragul. We are recruiting a female support worker for the corridor; see our careers page. If you need support now, tell intake.

Will I have to travel to Melbourne for some services?

Sometimes. Latrobe Regional Health covers most hospital care and local allied health is growing, but some specialists, particularly for complex mental health, forensic support and young children, are still in Melbourne. Our coordinators plan those trips with you, including V/Line from Traralgon or Warragul, and keep everyday support steady at home.

Are you hiring support workers in Gippsland?

Yes. We are hiring a female support worker for Warragul and Drouin, and recruit for the Traralgon home and the wider Valley as need grows. We look for workers who live locally and plan to stay, because consistency is the point. Details and the application are on our careers page; experience helps, but reliability matters more.
