From the hospital to home, in Frankston and down the Peninsula

A lot of the support we provide in Frankston begins on a ward. Peninsula University Hospital, which most locals still call Frankston Hospital, opened its new tower in January 2026 with expanded mental health and oncology services, and discharge planners need providers who can have workers in a home before the patient arrives. We do that work across Frankston, Seaford, Karingal, Langwarrin and Carrum Downs, and along the Peninsula to Mornington, Mount Eliza, Hastings and Rosebud.

Once someone is home, the support that keeps them there is ordinary and consistent: personal care at the same time each morning, community participation that gets them to the foreshore or PARC, support coordination that keeps the therapists and the plan in step, and nursing when a wound or medication needs a clinician. For people with psychosocial disability we also provide complex mental health SIL.

The Peninsula is big, and we will not pretend every town is equally easy. Frankston, Seaford, Mornington and Mount Eliza are well covered; around Hastings, Rosebud and Dromana it depends on where our workers live that month. We tell you which before you sign anything.

Frankston and Peninsula places in our week

From the hospital to the beach, these are the landmarks that shape rosters and discharge plans here.

  • Peninsula University Hospital Frankston Hospital under its new name since the tower opened in January 2026, with expanded mental health, oncology, maternity and children's services. Most of our discharge work starts here.
  • Frankston Station, Young Street Terminus of the Frankston and Stony Point lines, rebuilt in 2018, step-free, with bus connections. The usual starting point for travel training.
  • Bayside Shopping Centre, Beach Street Three levels with Kmart, Target, Coles, Woolworths, Aldi and Hoyts. Shopping support, banking, Medicare and a coffee afterwards.
  • PARC, 16N Cranbourne Road The Peninsula Aquatic Recreation Centre: a heated 50 metre indoor pool, a warm water exercise pool and a gym. Swimming with a support worker is one of the most requested activities here.
  • Frankston Arts Centre, Davey Street An 800 seat theatre, a smaller black box theatre and galleries, run by the council. A good outing when the shops are too much.
  • Chisholm Institute, Fletcher Road The Frankston TAFE campus, opposite the station. We support people through enrolment, classes and the commute.
  • Rosebud Hospital, 1527 Point Nepean Road The southern Peninsula's 24 hour emergency department. Serious cases are transferred to Frankston, and we help plan the trip home either way.

Homes we run, and homes we help you find

We do not have a Supported Independent Living or SDA home in Frankston or on the Peninsula. Our homes are in Pakenham (occupied, with a waitlist), Traralgon (a room available) and Morayfield, Queensland (Robust SDA, available). For people leaving hospital who need a home rather than hours, our coordinators know the SIL and SDA homes other providers run around Frankston, Seaford, Langwarrin and Mornington, and will help you visit and compare them. Our own vacancy status is on the accommodation page.

Questions from Frankston and the Mornington Peninsula

Straight answers.

If yours is not here, call and ask. It is what we are for.

Which suburbs around Frankston do you cover?

Frankston, Frankston North, Frankston South, Seaford, Karingal, Langwarrin, Carrum Downs, Skye and Sandhurst in Frankston City, plus Mount Eliza, Mornington, Mount Martha, Baxter, Somerville, Tyabb, Hastings, Dromana and Rosebud on the Peninsula. Coverage is strongest in Frankston, Seaford and Mornington and depends on worker availability further south; ask and we tell you plainly.

Can you support someone being discharged from Frankston Hospital?

Yes. A coordinator talks to the discharge planner at Peninsula University Hospital, we arrange workers, equipment and any nursing before the discharge date, and the first days at home are rostered heavier so nobody is alone on the first night. Ward social workers can refer straight to intake, and we reply within minutes.

Do you offer SIL for mental health in Frankston?

We provide complex mental health Supported Independent Living with a more clinical, consistent team, and work with people leaving the mental health unit at Peninsula University Hospital. We do not currently run a home in Frankston itself, so SIL here means our Pakenham or Traralgon homes, or a home from another provider that our coordinators help you find and vet.

Can I get a support worker who speaks my language?

Often, yes. Our team supports people in 17 languages and Auslan, and we match on language first wherever it matters to you. Frankston is less diverse than Dandenong, so a specific language may take longer to roster; if we do not have the right worker, we say so and arrange an interpreter. Auslan users can reach us through the National Relay Service.

Do you offer support coordination in Frankston?

Yes. Our coordinators cover Level 2 and Level 3 (specialist) support coordination across Frankston City and the Mornington Peninsula, and meet you at home, on the ward or at our Cranbourne office. They know the hospital's discharge processes and which local therapists have capacity. Read how it works on our support coordination page.

How quickly can support start?

For in-home and community support in Frankston and Seaford, usually within one to two weeks of the first conversation. Hospital discharge is faster: supports have started within days when a plan and a service agreement are ready. Further down the Peninsula, allow more time while we confirm which workers can cover your town reliably.

Do you have SIL vacancies in Frankston or on the Peninsula?

Not of our own. Our homes are in Pakenham (occupied, with a waitlist), Traralgon (a room available) and Morayfield, Queensland (Robust SDA, available), and their status is kept current on the accommodation page. For Frankston and the Peninsula, our coordinators know the SIL and SDA homes other providers run and will help you visit and compare them.

What if I am not happy with a worker?

Tell us, and we change the match. You do not have to explain in detail or wait for a review. Consistency matters, especially after a hospital stay, but only when it is the right person; a worker who is not a fit is replaced, and the feedback shapes how we match next time.
